The overall numbers may not pop off the page, but new Wisconsin Football coach Luke Fickell likes what he and his staff were able to do in college football’s early signing period, culminating Wednesday with 14 signees.

Among the surprises were four-star defensive back Amare Snowden and three-star wide receiver Trech Kekahuna.

Snowden had cut his list to Colorado, West Virginia, Howard, Cincinnati, and Wisconsin before telling head coach Luke Fickell he was coming to Madison.

Kekahuna returns to Madison after committing to Wisconsin, then de-committing after the coaching change was made in October. This past Saturday, Kekahuna said he was going to play at Arizona, before re-committing to the Badgers.

"I’m not saying we went after every guy we had a relationship with, or we had known in our time at Cincinnati. There were others that went some other places,” Fickell admitted on Wednesday. “Those are the ones we knew the best, we knew darn well and truly believed that they don’t just fit here as a player, but they fit the culture and all the things that are going to be expected of them."

Along with Snowden, fellow defensive backs Jonas Duclona and Braedyn Moore followed Fickell from Cincinnati to Madison.

Perhaps surprisingly, UW signed only one offensive lineman on Wednesday, four-star prospect James Durand from Chandler, AZ. Wisconsin also officially announced the transfer of former Oklahoma quarterback Nick Evers, who previously announced via his own social media accounts over the weekend.
